Resiliency Platform support for VMware vSphere security patches and bugfixes

VMware vSphere security patches and bugfixes can be applied to infrastructure that utilizes the Veritas Resiliency Platform, at the time of release the Resiliency Platform solution validates a base line of major and minor vSphere releases such as ESXi 7.0 update 3, ESXi 8.0 update 1, including respective vCenter versions and relevant patches that are available for vSphere. Subsequent patches may become available from VMware which may be past the release versions of Resiliency Platform and can be applied as recommended by VMware and although not specifically tested post release, Veritas works closely with VMware to ensure that these patches do not break functionality especially with respect to VMware API for IO filers (VAIO).

Supportability of Veritas virtual appliances

Veritas virtual appliances are bundled with an OS and an application. Veritas maintains and supports this entire bundle "OS and Application" including upgrading OS sub-components and patching security vulnerabilities per the Veritas product lifecycle policy support Veritas does not support any modifications or customization to the underlying operating system and packages included in a Veritas-branded virtual appliance. This includes adding, updating, or removing of packages, as well as utilizing custom scripts within the operating system of the appliance. All Veritas appliances are thoroughly tested and qualified based on the components and versions included, as well as hardened to the best of the vendors ability using best practices for the industry. Updating or changing any components may result in unexpected behavior of the system. If security issues are identified to affect a supported Veritas product, or the operating system of an appliance, Veritas will release a patch to address the issues. Do not install patches supplied by other vendors.

In situations where an appliance has been modified by the customer, Veritas reserves the right to request all modifications be reverted and that the issue be reproduced on the base release that was originally provided.
