About Enterprise Vault Web Access components
The Enterprise Vault Web Access components provides users with browser-based access to their archives. These components are configured in the default website in IIS. Although HTTP or HTTPS can be configured for Enterprise Vault client connections, HTTPS is strongly recommended to ensure the security of transmitted data.
The Web Access components are used by the Enterprise Vault Search application. Enterprise Vault Search provides client users with the ability to browse and search their archives.
As well as browsing the contents of their archives and conducting simple or advanced searches, Enterprise Vault Search users can do the following:
Save frequently-used mailbox folders and search queries as favorites for one-click access and reuse.
Preview archived items and their attachments.
Copy and move archived items out of an archive, within an archive, and from one archive to another.
Export archived items to a
.nsf
,.pst
, or.zip
file, depending on archive type and search policy.Delete archived items.
When a user requests a search, the Web Access component instructs the Indexing Service to search the index for items that match the search criteria. When users request to view or restore an item, the application interacts with the Storage Service or retrieval task.
