The dbed_update command fails on AIX. The following error is displayed:

No repository found for database testdb, creating new one.

SFDB vxsfadm ERROR
V-81-0450 A remote or privileged command could not be executed on localhost

The issue occurs because the host is unreachable, or the vxdbd daemon is not running on the host, or the user does not have sufficient privileges to run the command on the host.

Workaround: No workaround.

Verify the following:

  • The host (localhost) is reachable and connected to the network.

  • The vxdbd daemon is enabled and running on the host.

    Run the following commands:

    # /opt/VRTS/bin/sfae_config status

    # /opt/VRTS/bin/sfae_config enable

  • The user has sufficient permissions to run the SFAE commands if running in a secure mode.
