SharePoint Server agent functions

Agent functions include the following

Online

Starts the configured Web Applications, Service Applications, or services.

Offline

Stops the configured Web Applications and Service Applications. The agent also stops monitoring the configured services on the node.

Monitor

Verifies the status of the configured Web Application, Service Application or service. If the components are running, the agent reports the resource as online. If any of the components are not running, the agent reports the resource as FAULTED.

Clean

Forcibly stops the configured Web Applications and Service Applications. The agent also stops monitoring the configured services on the node.
