Update for Backup Exec 21.x to 21.1

New features/enhancements are included in this release 

  • Backup Exec now protects databases in SQL Server Always On availability group with SQL server version 2012 and later.
  • Backup Exec now supports protection of SharePoint Server 2019 and granular restore of individual items (GRT) from SharePoint 2019 backups.
  • Backup Exec now supports data encryption using 256-bit AES encryption key generated using enhanced password-based Key Derivation Function 2 (PBKDF2) algorithm.
  • Backup Exec now protects Azure Files as a workload over Common Internet File System (CIFS).
  • Backup Exec now protects Amazon FSx for Windows File Server as a workload over Common Internet File System (CIFS).
  • The Agent for Oracle now supports Oracle 18C.
  • Backup Exec now protects Windows Server, version 2004 and Windows 10, version 2004.
  • The Agent for Linux now supports Advanced Open File Option (AOFO-L) with RHEL 7.7, 8.0, and 8.1.
  • The agent for AIX and Solaris platforms is now available with the Linux Agent and uses a common installable package for all platforms. The common installable is available as part of the Backup Exec DVD media.
  • Backup Exec users benefit from cloud storage choices through support for the following cloud storage regions, enabling greater flexibility and economy:

    • Google: Salt Lake City and Las Vegas

    • Amazon: Cape Town and Milan

Prerequisites

  • Administrative privileges are required to install this Feature Pack. 
  • Backup Exec 21.0

Post requisites

  • A full backup is recommended after installing this Feature Pack.
  • Remote Agent for Windows Servers will need to be updated after installing this Feature Pack.
  • Remote Agent for Linux/Unix Servers (RALUS/RAMS) will need to be updated after installing this Feature Pack.  
  • Update SDR media.
  • Veritas recommends to reboot the system(s) after applying a Hotfix or Feature Pack.

Uninstalling this Update

This Update cannot be uninstalled.
