Elasticsearch indexing

Starting with release 14.2, Enterprise Vault introduces Elasticsearch as the new indexing engine that is highly performant, scalable, and reliable. With Elasticsearch indexing, Enterprise Vault now supports snapshot-based backup of indices without any downtime. This new indexing engine brings in higher performance improvements in terms of Indexing, Accelerator searches, and optimizes memory utilization.

If you are upgrading to 14.2, you must provision a new disk for each Enterprise Vault index server to store the Elasticsearch indexes. Additionally, you must provision another disk to store the snapshots of Elasticsearch indexes. The disk to store the snapshots of Elasticsearch indexes can be shared across multiple Enterprise Vault index servers.

Microsoft Teams content collection

Release 14.2 offers the ability to collect Microsoft Teams Chat and Channel data. In Discovery Accelerator, Teams data is presented in its native form for efficient reviews. 

WORM support for S3 compliant storage

Release 14.2 supports WORM for Generic Simple Storage Service (S3) primary partition. This feature provides immutability for content archived on S3 compliant WORM storage. 

New PowerShell cmdlets

This release introduced a new PowerShell cmdlet to perform index management tasks like Verify, Sync, Upgrade and Rebuild. New PowerShell cmdlet is made available for snapshot-based backup management of Elasticsearch indexes. For details, refer to the Enterprise Vault PowerShell Cmdlets.

New features in Enterprise Vault Dashboard

Enterprise Vault Dashboard v2 introduces a schedule search feature to monitor the health indexes. Now, you can build search schedules at set times or set up recurring searches that run automatically. You can run the searches against Enterprise Vault archives to the desired frequency. This facility will help you run an extensive search during an off-peak period to identify the unhealthy state of indexes.

New features in Veritas Advanced Supervision

Veritas Advanced Supervision, the web-based alternative for Compliance Accelerator client, brings in a set of new features, such as enhanced auditing, export items for offline review, enhancements in Review pane, and in previewing search results.

• Enhanced Auditing - On configuring and enabling Enhanced Auditing for a customer, the audit records for that customer are sent to the audit server whenever certain operations and modifications are made to modules as selected in the Audit Settings tab in Veritas Advanced Supervision. Changes to these modules made in Veritas Advanced Supervision, Compliance Accelerator, or both are logged. The Audit viewer tab in Veritas Advanced Supervision lets you search and export audit records for various modules and operations at the application, department, and folder levels.
• Export items for offline review - Users can export the review items from Advanced Supervision when they need to review items offline or present them as evidence to a third party.
• Enhancements in Review pane - The Review pane now provides the following enhancements: 
  • Users can sort items in ascending or descending order and these sorting choices are persisted across different login sessions.
  • Users can reorder the columns in the Review pane by moving up or down the columns using the Select columns menu. They can also resize the column width. The changes in column order and column resizing are persisted across different login sessions unless accessed from a different browser or computer.
  • Users can now save the frequently used facet settings to filter the items as a preset.
• Enhancements in previewing search results - The selections made for the Group and sorting of items are persisted across all login sessions.

New features in Compliance Accelerator

Configuration settings for Auditing - Compliance Accelerator provides a new configuration setting for the Enhanced Auditing feature. Use this setting to configure the audit server URL and to enable or disable the Enhanced Auditing feature.

Updated version of the Veritas Information Classifier

Enterprise Vault 14.2 comes with an updated version of the Veritas Information Classifier engine 3.0.0, providing assignment of classification tags to all new and existing archived content.

This version provides the following enhancements and new policies:

Policy engine enhancements and defect fixes

• Provision to create custom primary language detection policies for languages other than the languages part of the built-in Language Detection policies. Refer to detectableLanguages under vic-default-config.yml to identify the languages supported by VIC for detection.

• Accuracy and performance improvements for the Programming Language Source Code pattern.
• Added support for Go (golang) and Bash languages to the Programming Language Source Code pattern.
• United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sensitive Data Policy now supports detecting keywords in Arabic.
• Enhance Full Name pattern to use dictionaries of popular names for accuracy. Dictionary added for Full Name - Croatia pattern and Croatia Sensitive Data Policy.

A new link is available under the Help menu on the Veritas Information Classifier UI using which you can download the details about all built-in policies and patterns (along with language support for each pattern)

Support for Sentiment Analysis using Veritas Information Classifier

Sentiment analysis measures the attitudes, opinions, and emotions expressed within any content, messages using a combination of natural language processing techniques to provide users with a Sentiment Polarity score for that item. A score in the range of 0 to 100 is assigned, where 0 indicates that the item expresses the negative sentiment, 50 indicates that the item represents the neutral sentiment, and 100 indicates that the item represents the positive sentiment. Depending on how you want to interpret data, you can define and tailor policies with sentiment conditions to detect either ranges or exact sentiment scores in items.
 

Base and upgrade installers

Click Base and upgrade installers to view the files associated with this product version. Check the box next to each file that you wish to download, then click Download. The Download button will appear once you check the first file. After you click Download, you may be prompted to select a Veritas Entitlement Management System (VEMS) account. If you are asked to select a VEMS account, select the account that you wish to be the account of record for your download transaction.

To download files in the Base and upgrade installers section:

• You must have a Veritas account. If you do not have a Veritas account, you can create one by clicking Sign in at the top of the page and then clicking Create one.
• Your Veritas account ID (email address) must be registered as a user of a VEMS account that holds an entitlement for the product with an Entitled Version (displayed in VEMS) that is greater than or equal to this product';s'; version.
• Your Veritas account ID must have either the VEMS Administrator or Download Software privilege.
• You must log in with this Veritas account. To log in, click Sign in.

Note: You may not be entitled to download all files listed as some Veritas product offerings entitle different file sets. For example, some product offerings vary by platform (Windows, Linux, Unix, etc.). In these cases you will only be able to download files for the platforms entitled by your VEMS entitlements.

To view which products and versions you are entitled to download, log into VEMS by clicking Licensing on Support home page. Once logged in, click Entitlements at the top of the page. Locate the entitlements for this product and verify that the Entitled Version for at least one entitlement for the product is greater than or equal to the version of the product you want to download. You will not be able to download the product if the version of the product you want to download is greater than the Entitled Version of all of the entitlements for the product.

The Download Center records all download transactions. After you click Download, you may be prompted to select a Veritas Entitlement Management System (VEMS) account. Select the VEMS account you wish to be the account of record for your download transaction.

Updates

Click Updates to view all software updates associated with this version of the product. Click the Update name to view the full details of the update and to download its files. Check the box next to each file that you wish to download, then click Download. The Download button will appear once you check the first file.

To download files in the Updates section:

• You must have a Veritas account. If you do not have a Veritas account, you can create one by clicking Sign in at the top of the page and then clicking Create one.
• You must log in with this Veritas account. To log in, click Sign in.
• Some updates require that you purchased a maintenance contract and that your contract was active at the time the update was release. If so, your Veritas account ID (email address) will need to be a registered user of a Veritas Entitlement Management System (VEMS) account that holds an entitlement for one of the product releases listed in the update's' Applies to the following releases section.
• If you are not a registered user of any VEMS accounts that entitles the download, you will be prompted to enter an Entitlement Code. Enter either a VEMS entitlement ID or appliance serial number. If the Entitlement Code can be matched to a VEMS entitlement that can entitle the download, you will be able to download the update. VEMS entitlement IDs and the appliance serial numbers can be found on on your Veritas Certificate or can be provided by registered VEMS user.

The Download Center records all download transactions. After you click Download, you may be prompted to select a VEMS account. Select the VEMS account you wish to be the account of record for your download transaction.
