Supported Fibre Channel port configurations for the NetBackup 53xx appliances

NetBackup 53xx appliances may contain up to six populated PCIe card slots, depending on the I/O configuration of the appliance model. Each slot contains either a Fibre Channel (FC) HBA card or an Ethernet card.

Note:

Before you start configuring a particular FC feature on the appliance, make sure that it is supported with your appliance HBA configuration.

See Fibre Channel feature support for appliance HBA configurations.

The following tables describe the 5340 and the 5350 appliance PCIe slot locations, and the supported card types.

Table: NetBackup 5340 PCIe slot locations and supported card types

Slot 5

25/10 GbE NIC (I/O configuration A)

16 Gb FC HBA (I/O configurations B, C)

Slot 6

16 Gb FC HBA

Note:

Veritas does not support reconfiguring the FC HBA cards in the appliance rear panel. Do not switch cards in different slots or install a used card from another appliance without first contacting Veritas Technical Support.

The following tables describe the supported FC options for the 5340 and 5350 appliance models.

Table: Supported NetBackup 5340 PCIe card slot configurations and FC options

Card slot

Supported FC options

Slot 1

Reserved exclusively for attachment to external storage (Primary Storage Shelf).

Slot 2

Note:

This slot is populated with an FC card on 5340 HBA configurations D, E, H, and J.

Ports 1, 2

  • SAN Client FTMS (Target)

  • Optimized Duplication (Initiator or Target)

  • Auto Image Replication (Initiator or Target)

  • Tape out (Initiator)

  • NetBackup for VMware (Initiator)

Use only one option on each port.

Slot 3

Note:

This slot is populated with an FC card on 5340 HBA configuration E, and J.

Ports 1, 2

  • SAN Client FTMS (Target)

  • Optimized Duplication (Initiator or Target)

  • Auto Image Replication (Initiator or Target)

  • Tape out (Initiator)

  • NetBackup for VMware (Initiator)

Use only one option on each port.

Slot 4

Reserved exclusively for attachment to external storage (Primary Storage Shelf).

Slot 5

Note:

This slot is populated with an FC card on 5340 HBA configurations C, D, E, G, H, and J.
