New operational notes for NetBackup Appliance 5.1.1

This topic describes the known issues for this release. Some of the issues that appear here may also apply to previous releases because some issues may have been discovered after the previous release became available.

  • AIX SAN Clients and Fibre Channel (FC) target role changes

When the FC target role is changed from target to initiator, and then back to target, the AIX SAN Clients may not detect the target devices. To resolve this issue, see the following article:

    https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100050463

  • Encryption configuration for logs forwarded from the appliance

The NetBackup Appliance uses Rsyslog to forward logs. By default, Rsyslog sends remote-logging communication in the plain text format. If your scenario requires to secure this communication channel, you can encrypt it using TLS. To use encrypted transport through TLS, you must configure both the server and the client. To configure TLS encryption for forwarding logs from the appliance, contact Veritas Technical Support for assistance and refer them to article 100054477.

  • Appliance login issue with user authentication through NetBackup Appliance Web Console (web console)

The appliance may prevent login through the web console when the correct login credentials are used. A message appears to indicate that user authentication failed. If you log in to the NetBackup Appliance Shell Menu (shell menu), access is allowed but an error message appears to inform you that an internal error occurred. To resolve this issue, see the following article:

    https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100054787

  • Appliance Upgrade Readiness Analyzer (analyzer tool) prevents upgrade when checking high availability (HA) setup

If the analyzer tool detects customized service groups or resources in the HA setup, the following message appears:

[Warning] V-409-776-30109: Checking HA customized service groups and resources failed. One or more service groups and resources have been detected. A customized service group or resource may cause a failure during the upgrade.

If this problem occurs, contact Veritas Technical Support and refer them to article 100054734.
