New operational notes for NetBackup Appliance 4.0
This topic describes the known issues for this release. Some of the issues that appear here may also apply to previous releases because some issues may have been discovered after the previous release became available.
You should also refer to the Release content appendix of this document to see the issues that have been resolved for this release.
Known issues for version 4.0:
ROC Temperature monitoring and alerting disabled for NetBackup Appliance model 5250
Due to an underlying performance issue, the monitoring and alerting feature for the ROC Temperature (RAID on Chip for RAID Adapters) is disabled in this release for NetBackup Appliance model 5250. This feature will be reinstated and available for 5250 models in a future software release.
Incorrect error message when adding new AD or LDAP users (software versions 4.0 and earlier)
When adding new AD or LDAP users from the appliance shell menu, the following error message may appear:
The user name that you have entered is not valid. Enter a valid user name.
This error message may not accurately reflect the actual cause of the failure. To determine the cause of the failure, see the following article:
https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100049282
HA switchover shows error message for NFS server (software versions 4.0 and earlier)
If you create an Instant Access VM or restore any files or folders after performing an HA switchover, the following error message may appear:
The NFS server does not support MOUNT version 3 over TCP.
After 10 minutes, this problem corrects itself since the Universal Share and Instant Access processes will recover automatically. This issue does not apply to NFS version 4.
Proxy Server configuration prevents changes to notification settings (software versions 4.0 and earlier)
If you have configured a Proxy Server to access the Veritas AutoSupport servers, the following error message may appear when you try to change the Notification Settings using the appliance web console:
To resolve this issue, contact Veritas Support and refer them to article number 100049271.
Disk details missing from Raid Status Details on 5240 and 5250 appliances (software versions 4.0, 3.3.0.1, 3.2)
When logged in to the appliance web console, if you click
and then click on an disk, the RAID status details dialog that appears does not contain any disk details. A fix for this issue is planned for a future software release.Intermittent test email notification after upgrade
After upgrading to version 4.0, the test email may not always succeed. To workaround this issue, delete all of the SMTP server configuration information and then re-enter all of the information.
Upgrade failure from version 3.1.1 on NetBackup 5330 appliances
When upgrading a 5330 appliance from version 3.1.1 to 4.0, the process may fail and potentially corrupt the boot partition. For more information, see the following article:
https://www.veritas.com/content/support/en_US/article.100049396
The following describes known issues that can occur with NetBackup Appliance software versions 4.0 and earlier.
Upgrades to NetBackup Appliance version 3.3.0.1 or 4.0 fail with error "Preflight check has failed"
This issue can happen when the AMS repository contains two versions of the same NetBackup Appliance Upgrade Readiness Analyzer tool. For example, the analyzer tool package has two file name formats as follows:
SYMC_NBAPP_update_ReadinessAnalyzer-3.3.0.1-20200713.noarch.rpm
VRTS_NBAPP_update_ReadinessAnalyzer-3.3.0.1-20200713.noarch.rpm
This issue occurs if both of the above packages exist in the AMS repository. To workaround this issue, remove one of the packages from the repository.
Appliance performance data is not shown on appliances with version 4.0
If a NetBackup appliance with version 4.0 is registered with AMS version 1.4, the performance data for this appliance is not shown in the AMS console. This issue is fixed in AMS 1.4.1. To resolve this issue, update the AMS to 1.4.1 and then update the affected agents to 1.4.1.
