Register a SQL Server instance or replica with a new credential

To allow for full discovery of SQL Server assets, you must register instances or replicas with a credential. You can select from the existing credentials in the Credential management system (CMS) or create a new credential.

Note:

The database and the availability group discovery begin after the credentials are validated. However, these assets may not appear in the web UI immediately. They appear after the discovery process completes. The date reflects when the credential was added or updated; it does not indicate if the credential is valid.

To add a new credential for a SQL Server instance or replica

Review the recommendations and requirements for the type of credentials that you want to use for authentication.
See About options to register SQL Server credentials.
On the left, select Workloads > Microsoft SQL Server.
Select the Instances tab.
Select the check box for each instance or replica that you want to register. Then select Manage credentials.
For availability groups, each replica in must be registered with credentials.
Select Add credentials and select Next.
Select the authentication option.
