Replication for SAN environment
NetBackup provides a robust data protection solution for volumes that are set up on a SAN storage host.
You can also protect mounted iSCSI/FC volumes that are hosted on NetApp Storage array and 3PAR, Nimble, and Primera array environments which are configured on Recovery Manager Central (RMC).
Table: Replication for SAN environment configuration steps
Step | Description | Reference topic |
---|---|---|
1 | Configure the Snapshot Manager for Data Center server in NetBackup | Before you begin installing NetBackup Snapshot Manager for Data Center |
2 | Configure the NetApp storage array or HPC RMC plug-in. | Configure the storage array plug-ins for Snapshot Manager for Data Center |
3 | Add the required client/alternate client to standard policy. | |
4 | Configure the SLP to use snapshot and replication | For more details about replication, refer to these chapters in this guide.
|
5 | Configure a standard policy to perform the operations that are specified in the SLP. |
Note:
Backup from Snapshot job failures (error code 4213) occur when multipathing is enabled on the array side. To resolve this issue, enable Linux multipathing on the backup host or client.
Note:
In NetBackup, NetApp supports cascaded and fanout replication, while the HPC RMC plug-in supports only source-to-destination replication.
