Add a Compute Resources policy
Before adding a policy:
A Data Collector must exist in the Portal, to which you will add the Data Collector policies. For specific prerequisites and supported configurations for a specific vendor, see the Certified Configurations Guide.
A single policy is allowed per collector.
Users can manually add a policy using Add Policy menu on the Collector Administration screen.
An existing Compute Resources policy's server address would get updated with the Internal Host Name of Primary Server from a Veritas NetBackup Data Collector Policy, when the NetBackup Resources Monitor probe is enabled. For further details, refer to the help for Adding a Veritas NetBackup Data Collector policy. A new policy for Compute Resources will get added if there is no existing policy.
To add a Compute Resources policy
- Select Admin > Data Collection > Collector Administration. Currently configured Portal Data Collectors are displayed.
- Search for a collector if required.
- Select a Data Collector from the list.
- Click Add Policy and then select the vendor-specific entry from the menu.
- Enter or select the parameters based on the description below and click OK to save the policy.
The mandatory parameters are denoted by an asterisk (*).
Table: Compute Resources Data Collector Policy field description
Field | Description |
---|---|
Collector Domain | The domain of the collector to which the collector backup policy is being added. This is a read-only field. By default, the domain for a new policy will be the same as the domain for the collector. This field is set when you add a collector. |
Policy Domain | The Policy Domain is the domain of the policy that is being configured for the Data Collector. The Policy Domain must be set to the same value as the Collector Domain. The domain identifies the top level of your host group hierarchy. All newly discovered hosts are added to the root host group associated with the Policy Domain. Typically, only one Policy Domain will be available in the drop-down list. If you are a Managed Services Provider, each of your customers will have a unique domain with its own host group hierarchy. To find your domain name, click your login name and select My Profile from the menu. Your Domain name is displayed in your profile settings. |
Server Addresses | One or more host names specified as a comma separated list. This server address must match the host name of the server with NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter. |
Compute Resources | This probe collects OS and hardware metrics from servers. No schedule is associated with this probe. It collects data received from NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter installed on the server configured in the policy. To install and configure NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter, seeNetBackup IT Analytics Exporter Installation and Configuration Guide. |
Schedules | Compute Resources probe is not a scheduled probe. It is always up and running and gathers data as it receives it from the NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter configured on the server. |
Sender ID | Click on the icon next to the Compute Resources probe name to copy the Sender ID. This ID is required during the setup of NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter on the host. The value of a Sender ID is same for all the servers configured in a single policy. Refer NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter Installation and Configuration Guide for further details on its usage. |
Download SSL Certificate | Downloads the SSL certificate required to setup NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter on the host. Refer NetBackup IT Analytics Exporter Installation and Configuration Guide for further details on its usage. |
Notes | Enter or edit notes for your data collector policy. The maximum number of characters is 1024. Policy notes are retained along with the policy information for the specific vendor and displayed on the Collector Administration page as a column making them searchable as well. |
