    1. Cluster configuration issues
      1.  
        Cluster configuration fails if there is a conflict between the cluster private network and any other network
      2.  
        Cluster configuration process may hang due to an ssh connection failure
      3.  
        Node discovery fails during initial configuration if the default password is changed
      4.  
        When NetBackup Flex Scale is configured, the size of NetBackup logs might exceed the /log partition size
      5.  
        Error message is not displayed when NTP server is added as FQDN during initial configuration in a non-DNS environment

        All the selected EEBs are not uploaded during the initial configuration
    2. Disaster recovery issues
      1.  
        Backup data present on the primary site before the time Storage Lifecycle Policies (SLP) was applied is not replicated to the secondary site

    8. Upgrade issues

        EEB installation may fail if some of the NetBackup services are busy

        Unable to upgrade from version 3.0.0.1 to 3.1 when an AD/LDAP server contains a maintenance user account and you attempt to change the maintenance user password

Enhancements to primary service replication

  • Allow use of the same virtual IP(s) for NetBackup primary service on both NetBackup Flex Scale clusters.

    This can be done if the same network is available on primary and secondary sites. This avoids the need for managing and updating DNS server entries for NetBackup primary service.

  • Automatic DNS update while changing replication roles.

    This avoids the need for updating DNS server manually before changing replication roles if each cluster has separate virtual IP(s) for NetBackup primary service. This is only supported for DNS servers that are based on BIND9.

  • Automatic SLP management while performing failover on a cluster fault.

    This can be used to avoid the manual process of updating NetBackup backup policies, protection plans, and SLPs to avoid backup failure when the cluster is faulted.

  • Allow change of replication role when the replication service is in error or paused or resync state if a consistent copy of catalog is available for bringing up the NetBackup primary service on the replication target.
