Managing disaster recovery using GUI
You can manage disaster recovery using the NetBackup Flex Scale GUI. You can perform both takeover and migrate operations using the GUI. It is also possible to pause the replication and resume it later.
To perform migration using GUI
- Log in to the NetBackup Flex Scale GUI of the secondary site.
- Go to Settings > Master service replication. Click Change Replication Roles.
- The Change Replication Roles window appears.
If you want to perform a migration, select the Switch roles option. Ensure that you have updated the DNS entries of the NetBackup primary service FQDNs to resolve to the secondary site. Click Change roles.
Note:
Only the Switch roles option is enabled when both the primary and secondary sites are up. The Make primary option is disabled.
Note:
In case of non-DNS sites (either one or both), updating the DNS entry for the NetBackup primary service IP is not applicable.
You can perform a takeover operation only if the primary site is fully down. The Dashboard of the secondary site should show that the replication status as Disconnected.
To perform takeover using GUI
- Log in to the NetBackup Flex Scale GUI of the secondary site.
- Go to Settings > Master service replication. Click Change Replication Roles.

Note:
In case of non-DNS sites (either one or both), updating the DNS entry for the NetBackup primary service IP is not applicable.
You can pause an ongoing replication operation.
To pause replication
- Go to Settings > page of the primary or the secondary site.
- Click Pause. A task is initiated in the GUI. After task completion, replication is paused on both the clusters and the Resume button gets enabled on both the clusters.
You can resume a replication operation which is in paused state.
To resume replication
- Go to Settings > page of the primary or the secondary site.
- Click Resume to resume replication. A task is initiated in the GUI. After task completion, replication is resumed on both the clusters and the Pause button gets enabled on both the clusters.
Note:
