Configuring application monitoring for SAP Web Application Server
Configuring an application for high availability involves the following tasks:
Configuring the VCS cluster
This task involves selecting the virtual machines on which you want to configure monitoring and setting up the network communication links between the selected virtual machines.
Configuring the application
This task involves configuring the application in one of the following modes:
Start/stop mode on a single system: In the event of a failure, the application is restarted on a virtual machine for a configured number of times.
Failover mode on multiple systems: In the event of a failure, the application is first restarted on a virtual machine for a configured number of times. If the application does not restart, the virtual machine fails over to another ESX host.
When configuring an application in the failover mode, you need to select the ESX hosts where the virtual machines can fail over.
