Problem

Backup Jobs are failing with the following error.

Error E0BB00B5: Snapshot error Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'Unspecified error.'.
 

Error Message

Error E0BB00B5: Snapshot error Error EBAB03F1: Following Operating System error occurred while performing requested operation: 'Unspecified error.'.
 

Cause

The files to managed by System Recovery for snapshot may be corrupt. 
Corruption can occur in the following scenarios.

  • Third party software like volume replication (copy) software overwrites the files.
  • Security software such as anti-virus scanner prevents the files from being updated by System Recovery properly.

Solution

Remove the corrupt files and folders with the following steps.

1. Launch Explorer.
2. Change the explorers option to see the hidden files.

    "Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives"
    "Hide extensions for known file types"
    "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"

3. If the server has "System Reserved" partition, assign a drive letter to the System Reserved partition in Disk Management.

4. Check whether the file and the folder exist at the root of the each drive.

  • .VTrack (folder name)
  • VTrackDiskControl.ctl (file name)

5. Stop Veritas System Recovery service.
6. Remove the files and the folders from the drives. (*)

 NOTE: If .VTrack and VTrackDiskControl.ctl are not found in Step 4. please skip Step 6.

7. Remove drive letter from System Reserved partition if it is assigned.
8. Start Veritas System Recovery service.

 

* If the files and the folders cannot be removed, perform the additional steps below.
 

Additional Operation

a. Stop SymTrackService.
b. Launch command promt and run the following command.

fltmc unload SSRFsF

c. Check if SSRFsF does not exist with using fltmc command.

fltmc

d. Remove .VTrack folders and VTrackDiskControl.ctl files from the drives.

e. Run the following fltmc from command prompt.

fltmc load SSRFsF

f. Check if SSRFsF exists with using fltmc command.

fltmc

g. Reboot the server.
