Problem

In the Veritas Resiliency Platform (VRP) Web console, several Resiliency Groups (RG) for Windows based Virtual Machine (VM) would report a risk for IP customization.

Error Message

No valid Windows Global User credentials found for IP customization.

When attempting to probe the risk, it would give the error below

Unable to probe selected risk(s).

  • No valid Windows Global User credentials found for IP customization.

Cause

The issue occurs when the VM protected by the RG fails to authenticate the Windows Global User credentials provided in the VRP Web Console.

Solution

IP customization can be achieved for Windows VM by either of the options below.

1) Windows Global User

OR

2) IP Customization Service

If the configured Global user cannot be authenticated using any of the steps mentioned at Global user settings, then the option for installing the IP customization service can be used.

To achieve this, edit the RG(s) using the Edit configuration option, check-mark the box for Install IP customization service on virtual machine under the Customize Network option, as shown below:

This Installs the Veritas Resiliency Platform Guest Customization Manager service on the VM to assist with IP customization tasks during a Migrate RG or Takeover RG operation.
