NetBackup installation nbcheck: not ok missing_binaries_noncritical / not ok missing_binaries_critical
Problem
NetBackup nbcheck application is reporting "missing_binaries_noncritical" or "missing_binaries_critical" during a first time installation or upgrade.
- Critical test failures will prevent NetBackup installs until issue is resolved.
- Non-critical test failures will allow for installation of NetBackup but might impact some features of the product.
Error Message for non-critical test failures
Pre 10.4.0.1:not ok missing_binaries_noncritical: binaries [<list of binaries>] were not found in /etc/ld cache.
or
not ok missing_binaries_noncritical: binaries [<list of binaries>] do not exist or may exist but are not executable.
10.4.0.1 and above:not ok missing_binaries_noncritical: binaries [<list of binaries>] were not found on the system.
or
not ok missing_binaries_noncritical: binaries [<list of binaries>] do not exist or may exist but are not executable.
Error Message for critical test failures
Greater than 10.4.0.1:
not ok missing_binaries_critical: binaries [<list of binaries>] were not found on the system.
Cause
The error occurs because there are packages that are required in order for NetBackup utilities to operate as designed, and they are not present on the host where the software is being installed.
