How to collect logs of local and remote server using VQA.

The Veritas Quick Assist (VQA) diagnostic tool helps in troubleshooting issues by providing following features:

  • Create/update cases with evidence/Logs

Steps for collecting logs from local machine

  • For gathering logs only from local machine select the option "Collect Data for Support"

  • Select the product(s) for which log files needs to be collected and click "Next".

  • For Data Type select "All Data" and click "Next".

  • For "Additional Options" select any additional categories if required and click "Next".

  • During "Collect" phase VQA scans and collects all the required logs and product details.

  • Save/Upload the logs - Provide path and click on "Save" or upload the logs to Veritas SFTP for new or existing case using "Create or Update a Support Case" option.

 

 

Steps for collecting logs from remote machine

  • For gathering logs from remote machine select the option "Start Remote Scan",

  • On "Prerequisites for Remote Scanning" page review remote scan requirements and click "Next".

  • On "Remote Server Configuration" page click "Add Server".

  • On "Add remote server details" page select the product(s) for which log files needs to be collected. 

  • Enter Server Name/IP and credentials to connect to remote machine and click "Save".

  • Click "Test Connection" to verify connectivity with remote server.

  • Click "Next" after connection is established successfully. If connection fails review pre-requisites for remote scanning. 

  • For "Additional Options" select any additional categories if required and click "Next".

  • During "Remote Collection" phase VQA scans and collects all the required logs and product details from remote machine.

  • Click "Next" after remote scan completes.

  • Save/Upload the logs - Provide path and click on "Save" or upload the logs to Veritas SFTP for new or existing case using "Create or Update a Support Case" option.
