Description
When installing NetBackup Server 9.0 or 9.0.0.1 on Windows hosts using the setup wizard's Install to multiple computers on your network method, on the Remote Hosts screen, an attempt to add a NetBackup server running 8.3.0.2 is prevented.
This behavior occurs because NetBackup Server 9.0 and 9.0.0.1 do not recognize 8.3.0.2 as a valid release from which remote server upgrades are allowed. NetBackup 9.0 was released in December 2020 and NetBackup 9.0.0.1 was released in March 2021. NetBackup 8.3.0.2 was not released until July 2021.
This behavior is specific to NetBackup servers and does not occur when installing NetBackup Client software.
The portion of the error message that states NetBackup 6.0 or later is inaccurate. Veritas is working to correct this text in an upcoming release.
Veritas recommends that hosts at NetBackup 8.3.0.2 be upgraded to the latest 9.x release. Please review related information at https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100050822. In cases where NetBackup server upgrades from 8.3.0.2 to 9.0 or 9.0.0.1 on Windows must be performed, the non-remote installation methods can be used. Because clustered NetBackup servers require the remote install mechanism, there is no way to upgrade a clustered NetBackup 8.3.0.2 server to 9.0 or 9.0.0.1.
