How to add new Index Locations on a different drive on the Same Enterprise Vault (EV) server

Solution:

For the Enterprise Vault server to Index archived data, it requires Index Locations that should be in an Open state.

 

Follow the instructions below to create new Index Locations on a different drive on the Same Enterprise Vault (EV) server:

1.       Open Vault Admin Console and go to EV server section.

2.       Select and expand the correct EV Server and go to services.

3.       Check properties of EV Indexing Service and confirm Index Locations & their status (Refer below image).

4.       Close the index locations one by one from Enterprise Vault Indexing Service properties.

5.       Click on Add, then enter Vault Service Account credentials (if asked).

6.       Select a new drive for adding Index Locations and create a new folder in it (Refer below image).

7.       Confirm new Index Locations are added successfully, and are with Open status.

Note: Index Locations are added successfully, now restart the EV Indexing Service once.

Important Note: Enterprise Vault does not create new index volumes in a closed location, or update existing
index volumes that are in a closed location. Enterprise Vault automatically creates new
index volumes in an open location, as required.
