Description

In Veritas Alta SaaS Protection Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model there is always a 'Default' role that exists, to which all users are added.

The default configuration for the Default role is access to the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection User Portal and the ability to perform retrieval, with no sub-level permissions within this (i.e. search, sharing, export). Of course, users will only ever see content to which they have access rights.

Veritas Alta SaaS Protection is designed this way so that any user is able to sign in to the Veritas Alta SaaS Protection User Portal and access archived content to which they have access, provided they can successfully authenticate.

Veritas Alta SaaS Protection also automatically places external users in the default role. For more information on external users, see External Users and How to Configure Them in Veritas Alta SaaS Protection.

The content they are able to access is based on Veritas Alta SaaS Protection's  synchronization of access control lists (ACLs) which are inherited from the data that is ingested. To learn more about Veritas Alta SaaS Protection's ACL synchronization, see Understanding ACL Synchronization in Veritas Alta SaaS Protection .

NOTE: The 'Default' role can be configured to what best suits your organization. If allowing end users access to their data is not desirable, simply uncheck the 'End User Portal' permission from the Default role's configuration. It is also possible to expand the permissions of the Default role. For information on configuring roles, see How to Use Veritas Alta SaaS Protection Role Based Access Control (RBAC).
