Description

In Veritas Alta SaaS Protection policies run automatically, and can even execute on a near real-time basis, so you never have to tinker with a job scheduler for your policies.

In this article we'll show you how to configure the policy evaluation interval, which determines the frequency of policy execution. This controls all policies: statistics only, tagging, retention, indexing.

To view or change the policy interval of a Stor, simply click the ' Administration' tab and select the desired Stor in your configuration. After clicking a Stor, you will immediately be on the ' General' tab. In the Advanced area you will see the policy interval setting. Its default is 15 minutes.

NOTE: Each Stor has its own policy evaluation interval setting. A Stor that contains data rarely accessed may not need frequent policy evaluation. But a Stor that is actively accessed by users -- and has indexing and security requirements -- may need a more aggressive policy evaluation interval to ensure policies run closer to real time. Keep in mind, if a Stor contains a large item count (e.g. >1 billion items) and you are running more than a dozen policies in that Stor, an aggressive policy interval may require an upgrade to the performance class of your Veritas Alta SaaS Protection environment.
