Backup Exec 21 Update 1 - Backup Exec 21.1
After the above update is installed, create the following registry (if the process memory consumption continues to rise) and set it to 1. The registry need to be created for Backup Exec releases above 21.1 if the problem is still seen.

Additional Information:
To reduce memory usage, it is recommended to disable discovering data to back up and scheduling checking logon accounts.
