Enterprise Vault for Exchange: any retrieve from Microsoft Outlook fails with 'No such interface supported 8000FFFF'

Problem

After the upgrade to Windows 10 versions 1703 (Creators Update) or 1709 (Fall Creators Update) and  Enterprise Vault no longer retrieves archived items in Microsoft Outlook.  Each attempt fails with 'No such interface supported 8000FFFF'

This issue occurs with different Microsoft Outlook and Enterprise Vault Add-In versions and only if Vault Cache is enabled.

Error Message

The attempt to retrieve any Enterprise Vault archived items fails with 'There was an error loading this item -- some functionality may not be available'

Trying to open the highlighted banner fails with the error 'No such interface supported 800FFFF'

No such interface supported

The EV Add-in client log contains these errors:

Cause

The Windows 10 updates 1703 and 1709 removed a few registry entries necessary for Enterprise Vault retrievals to work properly.

Solution


Veritas recommends running the Microsoft Office Repair to resolve this issue.

Note: Registry repairs can potentially be different between customer environments.
