Unable to type inverted comma or double quotation mark character (") in the password field of a new install or upgrade process of Backup Exec

Problem

Unable to type inverted comma or double quotation mark character (") in the password field when specifying the Service Account of a new installation of Backup Exec or during the upgrade process from one version of Backup Exec to another version of Backup Exec.

Other special characters can be typed successfully within the password field.

The inverted comma or double quotation mark character (") is not supported within the password of the Backup Exec Service Account during a new installation or during the upgrade process of Backup Exec.


  

Solution

Before performing a new installation or an upgrade, change the password in Active Directory of the planned or current Backup Exec Service account to something without the inverted comma or double quotation mark character.

Veritas Technologies LLC has acknowledged that the above-mentioned issue is present in the current version(s) listed under the Product(s) Section of this article. Veritas Technologies LLC is committed to product quality and satisfied customers.

There are currently no plans to address this issue by way of a patch or hotfix in the current or previous versions of the software at the present time. This issue may be resolved in a future major revision of the software at a later time.
