How to use the Report tab of Veritas Quick Assist to review scan results and correct issues with Enterprise Vault
Description
Veritas Quick Assist (VQA) collects technical diagnostic data for many Veritas products. Scans can be run against any Enterprise Vault install greater than version 9.0.4, for common issues as well as installation requirements. The tool identifies issues in the environment and provides actionable solutions.
This article focuses on the Report tab and reviews the detailed results along with information on how to resolve issues found. Results are presented in both the Report and Information tab.

If attempts to self resolve the issue are not successful, VQA has the ability to upload information to support. This option is located on the Home tab and is documented in the Collect data for a support case portion of 000095758.
Install, Scan and Review summary report
To generate results, a diagnostic scan must be completed.
On the computer that has the problem, download and run VQA..
Read the Veritas Technology License Agreement (EULA) that is displayed in the right hand pane of the window.
If you understand and accept the terms stated in the EULA then click I accept the EULA, otherwise click Exit.
The VQA diagnostic tool opens to the Home tab
Perform the desired Scan
For detailed information on performing scans review 000095758The initial results of the Scan are presented Scan Status Report sorted by message type.
Error - Indicate an action failed to meet specified requirements
Warning - Occur for numerous reasons, involving configuration issues or update requirements
OK - Results meet scan expectation
Unknown - Scan returned insufficient data
- Choosing any of the clickable results routes directly to the Report tab.
Review detailed report
The following steps provide a review of the compiled information in the Report tab.
- Detailed information from the Scan Status Report is stored in the Report tab.
- Information is sorted by type of error message and can be filtered using the check boxes.
- Expanding the results provides additional information about the message
- The tool offers additional help within each option. The options vary depending on the type of message
Solving the problem
VQA offers a variety of solutions depending on the issue encountered. Error and Warning conditions are detailed below.
Error notifications: These messages indicate a particular scan failed to meet the specified requirements.
Messages are grouped based on their similarities.
- Event log error message are separated by the event.
- Clicking on the underlined Event ID: XXXXX performs a search against the knowledge base specific for that issue.
Note: Some searches return specific articles, while others perform specially generated queries.
