How to enable/disable advertising (publishing) on Remote Agent for Windows Servers in Backup Exec for Windows Servers
Solution
Remote Agent Advertising is used so that a particular remote server will advertise/communicate with a media server. For each media server's name or IP address that you enter or that is already displayed, the Remote Agent is displayed under Remote Selections in the media server's backup selection tree.
Additionally, for each media server that you enter or that is already displayed, you can specify a local network for traffic generated by backup and restore jobs when operations are performed between the media server and the remote computer on which the Remote Agent is installed.
To enable/disable advertising, do the following on the remote computer:
1. Open the
Start menu and select the following:
All Programs >
Veritas Backup Exec for Windows Server >
Backup Exec Remote Agent Utility
2. Once the utility opens, select the "
Publishing" tab.
3. Select the option to "
Enable the Remote Agent to publish information to the media servers in the list"
4. If there are no media servers listed in the top box, click
Add and enter the media server and IP address.
5. Click apply and ok.
6. Re-open the Backup Exec Remote Agent Utility and confirm the media server information is in the top box and the remote server is listed in the bottom box.
7. The Remote Agent Utility Monitor icon is now displayed in the system tray (you can close it, the remote agent will still run).
Set the following options as appropriate, and then click
Apply
