Problem

A NetBackup for Lotus Notes database restore failed with Status Code 184

 

Error Message

184 - tar had an unexpected error

During the VERITAS NetBackup (tm) for Lotus Notes restore, the specified NotesIniPath was incorrect.

Evidence of this problem can be found in three different NetBackup log files.

bpbrm log (on the NetBackup media server):
***Shows the tar error as it was received from the client by media manager.

Cause

The defined LOTUS_NOTES NotesIniPath /prod/apps/dom/notes.ini is incorrect.  

 

Solution


Define the properties for a Lotus Notes client from the NetBackup Administration Console

1 Open the NetBackup Administration Console.
2 Expand NetBackup Management > Host Properties > Clients.
3 In the right pane, right-click the client name and select Properties.
4 In the left pane, expand Windows Client or UNIX client and select Lotus
Notes.
5 In the Client Properties dialog box, provide the necessary information.

Enter the NOTES.INI file that is associated with the server used to back up and restore the Lotus database. 

Use this setting to specify the correct .INI file to back up and restore from Domino partitioned servers. 
Specifying the .INI file for non-partitioned servers is not necessary.

Specify the absolute path to the NOTES.INI file:
¦ On Windows:
If the notes.ini file is not located in the default directory,
indicate its location in the INI path box. For example:
D:\Lotus\Domino\notes.ini

¦ On UNIX:
If the notes.ini is not located in the directory that is specified
in the Path, indicate its location here. For example:
/db/notesdata/notes.ini
Include the directory and the notes.ini file name.


After the LOTUS_NOTES NotesIniPath is correctly defined, retry the restore.
