A setting on your computer that controls the size of Outlook Data Files may affect the operation of the Enterprise Vault Add-in
Problem
Exchange Administrator have an ability to restrict the creation and growth of outlook PST to various different reason such as below.1. Microsoft does not support PST files usage over a LAN or WAN network (KB267019), PST located on Network share can slow down outlook and cause corruption of PST files.
2. Backup of locally stored PST files is difficult thus making them vulnerable to data loss.
3. Legal search & discovery cannot be performed on emails stored on PST saved in local machine.
4. Anti-virus counter measures cannot be implemented on PST files as easily as Exchange Server mailbox databases.
The settings for restricting PST grow can be configured using client registry PSTDisableGrow OR using Group policy.
Please note setting up outlook restriction for PST creation/growth is outside of the scope of Enterprise Vault support.
Error Message

An export of Compliance and Discovery Accelerator to PST fails with Event ID 236 : “Error moving some messages to PST for run 'Export Name' System.ApplicationException.”
Solution
Perform following actions to override PSTDisableGrow.
A. For Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007, request the appropriate Outlook hot-fix from Microsoft and apply it.
For Outlook 2003: https://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=953671
For Outlook 2007: https://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=953925
Note This hot-fix is not required if Outlook 2007 Service Pack 2 or later is installed, above hot-fix may already have been applied as part of a Microsoft Update
B. Enable the registry value ‘PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides, which bypasses the PSTDisableGrow policy.
Set PSTDisableGrow in the following registry locations:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<Office version>\Outlook\PST. This location is the default location for PSTDisableGrow.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\<Office version>\Outlook\PST.
Set PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides in the following registry location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\<Office version>\Outlook\PST
Both PSTDisableGrow and PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides must be of type REG_DWORD, and have a value of 1 to allow data to be added.
For Office 365 version of Office the PSTDisableGrow and PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides registry key can be configured at the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Cloud\Office\<Office version>\Outlook\PST
<office version> Details
11.0 = Outlook 2003
12.0 = Outlook 2007
14.0 = Outlook 2010
15.0 = Outlook 2013
16.0 = Outlook 2016
Note When you enable PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides, it does not mean that users can create new PST files, or add items to existing PST files. PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides only enables the Outlook Add-In to perform these actions. If PSTDisableGrow is enabled and PSTDisableGrowAllowAuthenticodeOverrides is not enabled, the Enterprise Vault Outlook Add-In displays a warning when it loads in Outlook.
Warning: Incorrect use of the Windows registry editor may prevent the operating system from functioning properly. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows registry. Registry modifications should only be carried-out by persons experienced in the use of the registry editor application. It is recommended that a complete backup of the registry and workstation be made prior to making any registry changes.
Applies to Microsoft Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, Office 365
