Problem

Need support for the following configurations in SF Oracle RAC Solaris SPARC environments:
1. LLT is configured with UDP/IP over Infiniband interconnect.
2. Oracle Clusterware is configured to use the same LLT interconnects.
3. Oracle database is configured to use the same interconnect in Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) mode.

Environment

Environment Version
Solaris SPARC 11.2
SF Oracle RAC 6.1 or later
Oracle RAC Supported versions
Note :  Oracle RAC 11.2.0.4 requires ODM patch 17501491

Solution

To install and configure SF Oracle RAC with Infiniband support:
  1. Connect the Infiniband links using the Infiniband switch (direct connection may not work).
  2. Make sure that the process “local subnet manager” is running on the switch.
  3. Install SF Oracle RAC on the nodes.
For instructions, see the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Installation Guide.
  4. Configure SF Oracle RAC on the nodes.
For instructions, see the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Installation Guide.
  5. Select “LLT over UDP” option when you configure the private heartbeat links.
  6. Select Infiniband links as the heartbeat links (at least 2 links).
For instructions, see the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability Solutions Installation Guide.
  7. Install Oracle RAC on the nodes. Select the same Infiniband links for Oracle Clusterware interconnect as that of LLT.
  8. Configure Oracle Clusterware and RAC support for RDS over Infiniband. (Please refer Oracle documentation for configuration steps.)
  9. Create the Oracle database.
