The archive attribute has not been cleared after successful Enterprise Vault backup

Problem

The archive attribute has not been cleared after successful Enterprise Vault backup.

Error Message

In the Enterprise Vault Admin Console > Status, the following message is displayed:

There are XXXXXX savesets that have not yet been backed up or replicated for Vault Store 'MailboxStore'
There is a build-up of savesets that Enterprise Vault cannot confirm have been backed up or replicated

In the Enterprise Vault Event Application logs shows message:

Event id: 41008 - There are xxx savesets that have not yet been backed up or replicated for Vault Store 'MailboxStore

Cause

NetBackup changed the way to manage safety copies by changing from 'Use archive attribute' method to using 'Check for trigger file (partition secure notification file)'. This attribute can be found under:

EV Management Console > Vault Store Groups > VaultStoreGroupName > VaultStoreName > Right click on Properties for VaultStoreName > Backup tab

Once the setting has been modified, the Enterprise Vault Storage Service needs to be restarted.

Enterprise Vault determines whether the archived data in a vault store partition has been backed up. It checks for a trigger file in the partition root directory. After a successful backup of an Enterprise Vault 8.0 or greater partition (open, closed, or ready partition), NetBackup creates a PartitionSecuredNotification.xml file and stores it in that partition's root directory. This file will change from PartitionSecuredNotification.xml to PartitionSecuredNotification.xml.old once it has been read by Enterprise Vault. Enterprise Vault will read it depending on the setting set under the Backup tab > 'Scan partition every xx minutes'.

Solution

NetBackup changed the the way to manage safety copies by changing from 'Use archive attribute' method to using 'Check for trigger file (partition secure notification file)' method. Customer needs to monitor the report after few days to confirm that no warning are reported by Enterprise Vault.
