Problem

This article discusses support for InfoScale and Storage Foundation High Availability (SFHA) Solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4 (RHEL 7.4). Veritas is qualifying InfoScale 7.3, 7.2, 7.1, 7.0.1 and SFHA 6.2.1 on RHEL 7.4. See the Solution section for RHEL 7.4 support.

Solution

InfoScale/SFHA
Version
Support
7.3 Veritas have released patch infoscale-rhel7.4_x86_64-Patch-7.3.0.100 to support InfoScale 7.3 on RHEL 7.4.

Physical Installation
If installing InfoScale 7.3 on a physical RHEL 7.4 server, install the patch bundle at the same time as the InfoScale installation:
./<InfoScale7.3_dir>/installer -patch_path /tmp/<Patch7.3.0.100_dir>

Virtual installation
If installing InfoScale 7.3 on a virtual RHEL 7.4 server, the InfoScale 7.3 installation may become unresponsive, or "hang," during the installation. Two workarounds exist:

Workaround 1:
a. Install InfoScale 7.3 on RHEL 7.3.
b. Install patch 7.3.0.100 on RHEL 7.3.
c. Upgrade the OS to RHEL 7.4.

Workaround 2:
a. With manual steps (rpm), install all the VRTS packages, except the VRTSvxvm 7.3 package.
b. Manually install the VRTSvxvm package from the InfoScale 7.3.0.100 patch.
c. Use the CPI installer to configure InfoScale.

VIOM
Veritas has identified an issue that prevents Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) 7.3 from working on RHEL 7.4. A VIOM (Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager) patch is being produced.

LLT on RDMA
Veritas will release a patch for LLT on RDMA RHEL 7.4 environments. Do not use Cluster Server (VCS) with LLT on RDMA environments until this patch is released.
7.2 Veritas have released patch infoscale-rhel7.4_x86_64-Patch-7.2.0.200 to support InfoScale 7.2 on RHEL 7.4.

Virtual installation
If installing InfoScale 7.2 on a virtual RHEL 7.4 server, the InfoScale 7.2 installation may become unresponsive, or "hang," during the installation. Two workarounds exist:

Workaround 1:
a. Install InfoScale 7.2 on RHEL 7.3.
b. Install patch 7.2.0.200 on RHEL 7.3.
c. Upgrade the OS to RHEL 7.4.

Workaround 2:
a. With manual steps (rpm), install all of the VRTS packages, except the VRTSvxvm 7.2 package.
b. Manually install the VRTSvxvm package from the InfoScale 7.2.0.200 patch.
c. Use the CPI installer to configure InfoScale.
7.1 Veritas have released patch infoscale-rhel7_x86_64-Patch-7.1.0.200 to support InfoScale 7.1 on RHEL 7.4.

Virtual installation
If installing InfoScale 7.1 on a virtual RHEL 7.4 server, the InfoScale 7.1 installation may become unresponsive, or "hang," during the installation. Two workarounds exist:

Workaround 1:
a. Install InfoScale 7.1 on RHEL 7.3.
b. Install patch 7.1.0.200 on RHEL 7.3.
c. Upgrade the OS to RHEL 7.4.

Workaround 2:
a. With manual steps (rpm), install all the VRTS packages, except the VRTSvxvm 7.1 package.
b. Manually install the VRTSvxvm package from the InfoScale 7.1.0.200 patch.
c. Use the CPI installer to configure InfoScale.
7.0.1

Veritas have released patch infoscale-rhel7.4_x86_64-Patch-7.0.1.300 to support InfoScale 7.0.1 on RHEL 7.4

Virtual installation
If installing Infoscale7.0.1 on a virtual RHEL 7.4 server, the Infoscale7.0.1 installation may become unresponsive, or "hang," during the installation. Two workarounds exist:

Workaround 1:
a. Install Infoscale7.0.1 on RHEL 7.3.
b. Upgrade to patch Infoscale7.0.1.300 on RHEL 7.3.
c. Upgrade the OS to RHEL 7.4.

Workaround 2:
a. With manual steps (rpm), install all the VRTS packages, except the VRTSvxvm 7.0.1 package.
b. Manually install the VRTSvxvm package from the Infoscale7.0.1.300 patch.
c. Use the CPI installer to configure Storage Foundation HA.

Veritas have released patch sfha-rhel7.4_x86_64-Patch-6.2.1.500 to support SFHA 6.2.1 on RHEL 7.4

Virtual installation
If installing SFHA6.2.1 on a virtual RHEL 7.4 server, the SFHA6.2.1 installation may become unresponsive, or "hang," during the installation. Two workarounds exist:

Workaround 1:
a. Install Storage Foundation HA 6.2.1 on RHEL 7.3.
b. Upgrade to patch Storage Foundation HA 6.2.1.500 on RHEL 7.3.
c. Upgrade the OS to RHEL 7.4.

Workaround 2:
a. With manual steps (rpm), install all the VRTS packages, except the VRTSvxvm 6.2.1 package.
