Exporting a file as a virtual SCSI disk
Dynamic Multi-Pathing (DMP) supports vSCSI disks backed by a file. Export the file as a vSCSI disk to the VIO client.
To export a file as a vSCSI disk
- Create the storage pool.
$ mksp brunospool ibm_ds8000_0296 brunospool 0516-1254 mkvg: Changing the PVID in the ODM.
- Create a file system on the pool.
$ mksp -fb bruno_fb -sp brunospool -size 500M bruno_fb File system created successfully. 507684 kilobytes total disk space. New File System size is 1024000
- Mount the file system.
$ mount

- Create a file in the storage pool.

- Assign the file as a backing device.
$ mkbdsp -sp bruno_fb -bd bruno_fbdev -vadapter vhost0 Assigning file "bruno_fbdev" as a backing device. vtscsi5 Available bruno_fbdev
- Use the following command to display the configuration.
$ lsmap -all
