New operational notes for the NetBackup 5350 Appliance
The 5350 appliance uses a revised version of software release 4.0 that contains the required hardware and related software functionality support. The minimum supported software version for the 5350 appliance is the revised 4.0 version that is shipped with each unit. If a re-image is ever necessary, you must use the revised 4.0 software version or a later version.
Note:
The revised 4.0 software version cannot be installed on any other appliance models. Any attempt to re-image a 5240, 5250, 5330, or 5340 appliance with the revised 4.0 software version is blocked.
The following information describes the known issues for the NetBackup 5350 Appliance release.
HBA port configuration failures
When the Fibre Transport option is enabled and zoned with several HBA ports set to Initiator, changing the port configurations from the appliance web console to FTMS Target or MSDP Target may fail. For details about how to work around this issue, see the following article:
Disk errors
When you run the Monitor > Hardware ShowHealth PrimaryShelf or the Monitor > Hardware ShowHealth ExpansionShelf commands on a NetBackup 5350 Appliance, the following error message may appear:
Disk Information Error: No Disk(s) Detected
For details about how to resolve this issue, see the following article:
Storage data of removed storage shelf still appears
After physically removing a storage shelf from a NetBackup Appliance, the storage data details of the shelf remain visible in the web console and the shell menu interfaces. This issue affects all NetBackup Appliance models and all software versions from 3.0 through 4.0.
To resolve this issue, run the following command from the shell menu and enter "yes" when prompted to clean up the monitoring and inventory data:
Main > Support > InfraServices > CleanMonInvData
Incorrect firmware update recommendation
When you run the Main > Manage > Software > Firmware Status command on a 5350 appliance, the command output may indicate that a firmware update is recommended for the RAID RMS3HC080 card and storage controller. This recommendation is incorrect and can be safely ignored. A fix for this issue is planned for an upcoming appliance release.
