Configuring a backup host pool
Backup hosts and backup host pools are used for NAS-Data_Protection policy based on dynamic multistreams. See Dynamic data streaming for NAS workloads.
You can use NetBackup master server, media server, or a standalone client as a backup host. These backup hosts are added to a backup host pool. Volumes are distributed for backup purpose on the backup hosts that are configured in a host pool. This results in a better backup performance. You can't use the back-level servers as backup hosts.
Note:
NetBackup master server running on Veritas Flex Appliance is not supported as a backup host for the NAS-Data-Protection policy.
The Backup Host pool properties apply to the selected media server or the client. See, Veritas NetBackup Administrator's Guide.
You can use the nbsvrgrp command to create a backup host pool. See the nbsvrgrp man page or the Veritas NetBackup Command Reference Guide.
To configure a backup host pool
- Open the NetBackup Administration Console.
- Click NetBackup Management > Master Server in the left pane.
- Click on the preferred master server host name.
- In the Master Server Properties dialog box, click Backup Host Pools.
- Click Add
- In the Add Backup Host Pool dialog box, enter a host pool name.
- From the list of available backup hosts, select the required backup hosts.
- Click OK.
Note:
You cannot delete a backup host pool, if it is configured with an existing NAS-Data-Protection policy.
