About restoring Exchange snapshot backups
From a snapshot backup you can restore the Microsoft Information Store, Exchange 2010 and later databases, and Exchange 2007 storage groups and storage group databases. If you enabled Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) for the backup, you can also restore mailbox and public folder items from the backup.
Note the following when you restore snapshot backups:
(Exchange 2007) All databases in a storage group must be dismounted before you begin a restore operation. You can instruct NetBackup to dismount the databases before the restore begins.
All of the images you select for the restore must be from snapshot backups.
Exchange 2010 and later allow a restore to the recovery database (RDB).
