Description

Affected Versions:  The product limitation exists in Backup Exec 21.4, Backup Exec 22.0, 22.1 and 22.2. 

In certain conditions, Hyper-V Virtual Machine incremental backups run after the first Consolidated Full with client-side deduplication option enabled, may observe this data corruption.  
In these certain conditions, Backup Exec fails to maintain the backup chain that results in data corruption.

Both Backup or Restore jobs are reported as either successful or with an exception.

Customers are requested to test the restores from the backups that match the backup configuration.

 

Action Required

1. To prevent data corruption, apply Backup Exec 22.2 Hotfix 917391 as soon as possible.

Note: Backup Exec 21.4 customers are requested to upgrade to Backup Exec 22.2 with Hotfix 917391

Or

2. Configure the Consolidated backup job with non-dedupe storage i.e., Backup-To-Disk Storage.
