Managing certificates for Enterprise Vault Cloud Storage Adapter

Problem

Enterprise Vault fails to migrate CAB files to secondary storage and fails to retrieve items from CAB files migrated to secondary storage.

Cause

Certificates explicitly added to the <EV Install Path>\OST\x64\cacert.pem file are lost as this file is overwritten after upgrading or repairing Enterprise Vault.

Solution

• For Enterprise Vault 14.1 or prior versions, manually add the missing certificates of secondary storage servers again to the cacert.pem file.
• For Enterprise Vault 14.2, the cacert.pem file is backed up by Enterprise Vault during the upgrade.
  After upgrade, you will see the following three certificate files located under <EV Install Path>\OST\x64:
  (a) cacert.pem (Certificate file overwritten by Enterprise Vault during upgrade)
  (b) cacert_latest.pem (New certificate file installed by the latest version of Enterprise Vault)
  (c) cacert_old.pem (Back up of certificate file installed by the earlier version of Enterprise Vault)
  
  Files (a) and (b) are exact copies of each other immediately after the upgrade. 
  File (c) is only for backup purposes.
  
  You must manually add the missing certificates of secondary storage servers again from cacert_old.pem mentioned in (c) to file cacert.pem mentioned in (a).
