Description

This article will discuss how to configure the Exchange Connection when choosing to ' Export To' a ' Single Mailbox' or ' User Mailbox'.

Configure an Exchange Connection

  1. Click the ellipse button next to the mailbox selection.

  1. In the 'Configure export destination' pane click the ellipse button.

  1. Enter a Display Name.
  2. Now configure the settings on the 'EWS Credentials' tab

  1. There are two options:
    1. Basic - This is the preferred method. With this option, it allows for a connection to exchange using credentials for an account that has the Exchange Admin role assigned. Simply click the 'Add' button and enter the credentials.
    2. Modern/OAuth - This requires an AAD Application to be created. During this process, take note of the Directory ID, Client ID, and Client Secret. These will be entered in the fields.  For complete instructions on how to create this application, see the article:   How To Configure An OAuth Azure AD Application
  2. Choose to use 'Autodiscovery' or 'Manually set the EWS URL by clicking the 'Use O365 Default' button.
  3. For Exchange On Premise, click 'Advanced' and select the Exchange version.  Optionally you can select to 'Ignore Certificate Errors.'

Single Mailbox

  1. Select the Exchange Connection you created earlier.
  2. Enter the SMTP address for the destination mailbox.
  3. Select the mailbox type 'User Mailbox' or 'Groups/Teams Mailbox.'
  4. Optionally you can choose:
    1. a 'Folder Path.'
    2. Suppress Duplicates.
    3. Only Restore Regular Sent Messages.  This option should be disabled when exporting Calendar appointments.
    4. Merge 'Active Mailbox' Folder. When enabled, this option simply collapses the “Active Mailbox” location during the restore so that the folders in the active mailbox are merged into the destination mailbox
    5. 'Suppress Unsupported Item Classes'. This option is configurable when 'Only Restore Regular Sent Messages' option is unchecked. The setting 'Suppress Unsupported Item Classes' is enabled by default and disabling it may result in unexpected behavior for some restored items with unsupported ItemClass.
  5. Click 'Ok.'

User Mailboxes

Select the Exchange Connection created earlier.
  1. Source and Destination mappings should be automatically created, alternatively: Select 'Add Mapping' or 'Update Mapping' to map locations to mailboxes.
  2. Select any mailboxes to be excluded from this export by clicking 'Exclude Mapping'.
  3. Following are optional:
    1. Suppress Duplicates.
    2. Only Restore Regular Sent Messages. This option should be disabled when exporting Calendar appointments.
    3. Merge 'Active Mailbox' Folder. When enabled, this option simply collapses the “Active Mailbox” location during the restore so that the folders in the active mailbox are merged into the destination mailbox
  4. Click 'Ok'
