Product(s): Alta SaaS Protection
Description
This article details how to create chargeback tags within Alta SaaS Protection (ASP) and then associate them with one or more folders. Chargeback tags are only applicable for customers using Consumption Based licensing, for which the Tiering and Chargeback apps will be visible in the Administration Portal.
Typically, one chargeback tag is created for each entity that is desired to track, bill, and manage. These tags will have a monetary value and can be named however needed, typically by client or project names.
Step 1 - Navigate to the Chargeback App
Login to the ASP Admin Portal and select the '
Chargeback' app from the main page.
Step 2 - Create a Chargeback Tag
On the '
Chargeback tags' section, select '
New Tag'.
A window on the right-hand side called 'New Tag' will open. Enter in the following details:
- Name: Enter the name of the chargeback tag.
- Type: Select which type of chargeback tag it will be:
- Standard - Selects a single location to apply the chargeback tag to.
- Auto Create - Automatically creates tags for every child of the specific location selected.
- Description: Enter a description that will inform other administrators what the tag is being used for.
- Rate: When creating a chargeback tag the common monetary value needs to be set. There are two options:
- Standard Rate: Under Standard Plan, the price is fixed.

- Tier Rate: Under Tiered Rates, the price changes depending on the storage tier you use.

- Location: Select the location the chargeback tag will be applied to.
- Select the folder icon.

- Browse to the specific location the chargeback tag will apply to, select it, and then click on 'Select'.

- Select the folder icon.
Once all options are selected, click on '
Create'.
Step 3 - Add Chargeback Tag to a Policy
To utilize chargeback tags they need to be leveraged in policies (indexing, deletion, tagging). To apply a tag to a policy, add the '
Location Tag' filter from the '
Selection Criteria' available in policies.
Below is an example of adding a new chargeback tag for a deletion policy.
