Description

Within the End User Portal, there is an option to restore mailbox data.  This is accomplished by using the Restore option.

Once the item is found, simply select it, click on the ellipsis button, and choose the ' Restore' option.

After choosing the ' Restore' option, a window opens.

  • From the 'Destination' drop-down, select the restore location, typically with 'EWS' in the name.  If there are no destination locations to choose from, this means the option has not been enabled by the IT administrator and therefore cannot be used.
  • The email address for the logged in user will show in the 'Send notification' box.  This is optional.  If entered, an email containing a link will be sent that will take you directly to the exported content when the restore job has completed.
  • Select the 'Mailbox SMTP' address from the drop-down.  This will be the user logged in but an alternate address can be used.
  • Select 'User mailbox
  • The 'Folder path' defaults to the folder in which the message(s) was selected from. However, clicking the 'Browse' button allows for choosing an alternate folder or creating a new folder.
  • Suppress duplicates (best effort) -- Should be left enabled
  • Only restore regular sent messages -- This option should be disabled when exporting Calendar appointments.

Once all options have been configured, click the ' Restore' button and wait for the item to be restored.

Notes related to Shared Mailboxes:

Currently, restoring shared mailbox data to its original location is not supported from End-User portal.

Workarounds that require an Veritas Alta SaaS Protection administrator's assistance.

  1. Use the Export Utility(End User Mode) to restore the shared mailbox to its original location.
  2. Customer also has an option to restore the shared mailbox to file system (File Folder Restore) from the End-User portal.
