What do the OpsCenter settings under the Settings – Configuration – Data Purge tab mean?

Description

Enable Data Purge:  
  -  This enables or disables the purge mechanism globally.   Unchecking this box tells OpsCenter to not purge any data.   Veritas does not recommended disabling data purge other than for short periods of time as will cause the size of the database to grow excessively over time.  

Enable Expired Image Purge:
  -  This enables or disables the purge mechanism for image data.  
  -  By default this box is checked.  

Backup Job:
  -  This controls how long job data is retained.   This is data such as what you would find under Monitor – Jobs and is used for most common reports.  
  -  The default value is 220 days.


Backup Log:
  -  This determines how long error log data collected from master servers is kept.   Please note that this data is only intended to be temporarily stored in OpsCenter and should not be retained for extended periods of time.   This data is parsed by OpsCenter every night and populated into other tables for use by specific reports.

  -  The default value is 3 days.  

Tape Drive History:
  -  This controls how long information about tape drives is retained.  
  -  The default value is 31 days.  

Media History:
  -  This setting determines how long media information is kept.
  -  The default value is 31 days.  

Alert:
  -  This controls the length of time alert messages are retained in the database.   The alert messages can be seen under Monitor – Alerts.
  -  The default value is 31 days.  

SLP Images:
  -  This controls how long images from SLP jobs are retained in the database.
  -  If the Enable Expired Image Purge box is checked and the image expiration time is sooner than the SLP Images setting, the SLP data will purge when the image expires. 
  -  If the Enable Expired Image Purge box is checked and the image expiration time is longer than the SLP Images setting, the SLP data will purge based on the SLP Images setting.
  -  The default value is 90 days.  

Audit Trail:
  -  This setting controls how long audit information is stored.   The audit tails information can be seen under Monitor – Audit Trails.
  -  The default value is 420 days.  

Time of Purge:
  -  This sets the time of the day that the purge process runs.   The purge time always follows the system time of the OpsCenter server.  
  -  The default value is 00:00.
