Cause

This error is caused by a missing handler for ASP.NET on the EVIndexing virtual directory within IIS on the EV  server

Solution

Add the required handlers for .aspx files to the EVIndexing virtual directory and to all other Enterprise Vault virtual directories on the server.  These handlers are normally defined at the Website level and propagated downwards via inheritance through the virtual directories belonging to this website.  All Enterprise Vault virtual directories will require these handlers so it is best to add them in at the website level.

Contact Microsoft to assist in re-adding these handlers into the IIS configuration.
