Camberley Bates, vice president and practice lead at The Futurum Group spent time with Veritas during last month’s AWS Re:Invent. Joining Camberley for the discussion was Veritas GM of Data Protection as a Service, Simon Jelley and VP of Product and Solutions Marketing, Chris Wiborg. The three focused on how Veritas ensures cloud data and applications are resilient.

As with any candid discussion, the conversation branched out to include much more. If you haven’t looked at Veritas lately, you should. Veritas is doing some big things. As Camberley shares in the interview:

It’s not your daddy’s Veritas anymore

Three Things You Might Not Know About Veritas

Veritas 360 Defense

A highlight of the discussion, Simon and Chris shared why data recovery in the era of ransomware and cyberattacks is so complex. It is not as straight-forward as your typical disaster recovery scenario. Cyberattacks today involve, “a lot of different people, different tools, expanded attack surface, and an enemy really that’s adaptive. So, it’s just gotten a lot harder, more complicated, different people using different tools, different cultures between IT organizations,” commented Chris.

In short, cyber recovery preparedness is key. To develop the best cyber resiliency solutions, we use a team approach and partner with players in the cybersecurity space. As Chris shares, “We can’t do it alone, no one should.”

Created with an integrated and validated partner ecosystem, we recently announced Veritas 360 Defense. It’s the first extensible architecture in its space that brings together data security, protection, and governance for cyber resilience.

Governance and Compliance Solutions

Having a robust compliance and governance portfolio isn’t new for us. We’ve provided leading compliance and governance solutions for a long time. “I’m not sure if everybody understands how deep you have been in compliance and governance,” Camberley commented. “It’s not something that’s been added on recently. This thing goes back a decade.”

Over 30 Years of Leadership

For more than 30 years, Veritas has had your back in the data center, tackling the world's most complex data challenges. Today, we do much more. We have evolved and innovated our solutions to run cloud-natively. Our elastic Cloud Scale Technology containerizes our core services around core protection layers, policy engines, end-to-end deduplication, and storage. We can backup any workloads across multi-cloud and hybrid environments, including SaaS. Veritas also excels in any CNCF-compliant Kubernetes environment – including Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Microsoft, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

We offer solutions as-a-service with simplified deployment from the marketplace as well as native tools.

Safe to say, we now cover all your data management needs, on-prem or in the cloud—as well as your compute in the cloud and your storage in the cloud too.  Veritas is not stopping there. We continue to innovate. Our new-generation architecture leverages AI, machine learning, containers, microservices, and web-scale IT techniques such as service elasticity, hyperautomation, and multitenancy. And we’re leveraging all that innovation to provide efficient and cost-effective ways to safeguard your data and ensure your business resilience in the face of cyberthreats.
