On the surface, deploying applications in the cloud might seem easy. But when the time comes to do it, there are several things you need to consider – some of which may involve more time and effort than you might have initially expected and planned for. The good news is that Veritas can help you get your applications up and running in the cloud with minimal effort, so you can capture cloud value faster by automating the cloud deployment process.
The Veritas Application Mobility Service is a new feature of Veritas Alta Enterprise Resiliency designed to automate your cloud transformation by helping you:
In this blog, we’re going to check out how the Application Mobility Service (AMS) helps you deploy new applications in the cloud. The AMS is an intuitive, easy to use service that delivers several key benefits for your cloud transformation initiatives:
Cloud service providers today offer several features that make the cloud an ideal environment for your business-critical applications, and the Veritas Application Mobility Service will help you get up and running in the cloud with confidence. Figure 1 is an overview of how this works.

The Veritas Application Mobility service manages cloud application deployments by providing a framework to automate the creation of cloud infrastructure and application specific settings. This is done using an intuitive cloud-based user interface that reduces operational overhead while giving you the ability to customize and verify all inputs so you can build the exact cloud environment you want. In the AMS, you simply provide some basic information to initiate a cloud application deployment:
Once you’ve provided this information, the AMS does the rest. Veritas Alta Enterprise Resiliency is automatically deployed by the AMS as a foundation to manage your applications in the cloud – which includes agents that have been designed to integrate with cloud native services (ex: cloud IP addresses and cloud storage) to monitor and manage your applications in the cloud. Veritas Alta Enterprise Resiliency is deployed with a feature called Flexible Storage Sharing (FSS) which enables a highly resilient storage configuration that can span availability zones to maximize application uptime. The AMS also automatically tunes the Veritas Alta Enterprise Resiliency settings – including storage and I/O parameters – to ensure maximum performance and resiliency for your application in the cloud.
The AMS gives you the option to use an application-specific deployment template, or a generic application template. For example, you can use the Oracle template to simplify deploying a new Oracle database in the cloud – while considering Oracle-specific parameters that need to be included to successfully deploy Oracle. What about a custom/homegrown application? Not a problem – you can use a generic template designed to accommodate any application you want to deploy in the cloud. In Figure 2, you can see an example of the AMS cloud deployment workflow that automates and simplifies the process of creating a cloud environment for your applications.

Getting your business-critical IT services up and running in the cloud can be challenging when you don’t have the right tools to ensure a smooth, predictable, and efficient deployment experience. The Veritas Application Mobility Service simplifies deploying applications in the cloud with a focus on automation, predictability and providing additional application resiliency. This reduces your time to cloud value and eliminates risks that may lead to unplanned downtime – so you can easily and confidently deploy any application in the cloud.
